Jake walked through the woods between the towns of Forks and La Push, his hands tucked into his pockets loosely as he absently weaved his way through the trees. He was on his way, thinking himself insanely out of his mind, to visit the Cullens.
He wasn't one for close companionship with the family unless in times of crisis, which there usually seemed to be since Bella's return to Forks her junior year. A lot had happened, emotionally, physically, mentally, and hell, spirituality, if you wanted to try for technicality. Jacob shook his head and trudged on through the underbrush.
He hadn't been by in awhile, though he had his reasons. Five good ones in fact. They included a blonde, a bear, a shortie, an emo and last but certainly over the year's time his least favorite, a mind reader. Jake smiled in spite of himself at his nicknames, it made things easier and far more entertaining when used. Not that he had a problem with the vampires, even though he had, they were the reason of what he was. He figured he had pretty much gotten past all that and moved on, although it had taken some time. Time and self reevaluation. His nostrils flared faintly, picking up that disturbing dead scent surrounding the area. It cleared his mind of the past and pushed him into the present.
It was time to catch up, he thought as he mounted the stairs towards the front door. Someone would know he was here.

Rosalie had always been disgusted with Jacob Black and the other quileutte shifters. But Jacob seemed to just piss her off the most. She hated everything about him, his smell, his look, his personality. There was absolutely nothing that attracted Rose to want to talk to him ever. Therefore, it had satisfied her that he hadn't come around in quite a while. After all, she had enough things to worry about and the extra energy and stress wasted on hating Jacob wasn't needed at all.
Rose had just entered the house from the back when the repulsive scent hit her nose. That only meant one thing, he was there. Man, it was strong and and even made her want to gag a little. Everyone knew she was bitter, even Jacob, but she had every right to be. Of course, now the mutt had decided to pay a visit. This day just went from relatively okay to terrible in less than five seconds, thanks to Jacob Black.
First, his scent was lingering and shortly after she heard his footsteps as he approached the Cullen's house. Well, isn't that just the frosting on the cake. She smirked and stood in the living room for a bit, until the footsteps came to a hault. He was in front of the door, waiting for someone to let the dog in. Wouldn't he just be thrilled to see Rosalie's beautiful face again. After all, it was long over due. She walked to the door and paused a moment before opening the door to see the mutt himself. "What a suprise," she exclaimed, rolling her eyes and her voice dripping with sarcasm. "well, look what the dog dragged in." The only good thing about the mutt being around, was having someone to truly take her anger out on. This would be entertaining.

Jake let loose a laugh at Rosalie's appearance at the door. "Oh wasn't this just a great idea." He muttered sardonically as she opened the door. Snorting at her far less than gracious welcome, he grinned and crossed his arms.
"You know you've missed me, Blondie. And technically I'm not drug anywhere yet, unless you'd like to do the honor, which would then make you the dog." Jacob smirked again, falling easily into their normal routine of back and forth insults. "Any other brilliant remarks? You wouldn't want to stress that pretty little head of yours on my behalf."

Edward was in the kitchen of the house having gone to visit the Cullen's after such a long time as being away, it had felt great being back until there was a scent that filled the males nose and he knew exactly who's scent it was after smelling it for such a long time, Jacob Black. He would of answered the door himself but Rose beat him to it and he knew for a fact that if both of them were together for too long then a fight would occur.
The male decided to listen from the kitchen for awhile to see what would happen before stepping in, it was pretty much the same insults that the pair always called to each other. He sighed yet showed a smile at the pair they had bonded together over Renesmee yet again they seemed to hate each other, well it was back to normal then. He chuckled gently as he walked forward towards the door and stood behind his sister.
"Jacob" he said with a slight frown, he tried to read his mind but got no feedback of why the male was there. He leaned on the door making it open while placing his other hand on his sisters shoulder. "Rose its fine he wont cause trouble, he knows he cant handle the Leeches" he told the female smiling hoping that Rosalie would comply with what he had asked but he wasn't getting his hopes up just yet.

Rosalie glared at Jacob, disgusted with him as usual. "Hah, why in the world would I have missed you, all you ever do is stink up the place." Although they had one thing in common, caring about Renesmee, they still hated each other. "what, no blonde jokes this time or are you saving those for later?" she raised an eyebrow at him debated on closing the door right then, hoping he'd go away.
That's when she heard Edward's voice, and felt his hand on her shoulder. "If he can't handle us, then maybe the mutt should show himself out," she commented, stubbornly. It would really make her happy if Jacob would just leave. Today had been a relatively better day than normal and them Jacob shows up and it all went down the drain.

Jacob kept a pleasant, smug smile, enjoying pissing her off. "Least I’m not the one with a home that smells like a mortuary, just think of me as an air freshener.” The mentioned scent grew stronger as Edward came to join Rosalie, making Jake’s nostril flare distastefully for a second, but it didn’t stop him for having another retort for her suggestion. “Since you asked, want to know the difference between a smart blonde and Bigfoot? Bigfoot’s been spotted.” He finished without her answering, though he doubted she would have other than with another death stare.
He gave a brief acknowledging nod as Edward said his name, hmphing at the male vampire’s comment. “Gee thanks, buddy. I basically self sacrifice my self esteem for Little Miss Priss here to have her fun and this is the help I get. You aren’t the only one wondering why I showed up.” Jacob allowed his mocking thoughts to drift, not bothering to hold back a sigh as Rose opened her mouth again.
“First of all, a better word for my handling would be endured. If it weren’t for my sanity, the treaty and most importantly, Nessie’s sake, I’d gladly introduce you to my large teeth, Riding Hood.” He retorted coolly, not going to be the one to play nice first. He could stand here all day to prove such a point, though he wasn’t exactly planning on doing so.

Edward shook his head as the pair quarreled he wasn't sure that either of the pair would ever get along for more than a few minutes and that seemed to take all of their concentration. He waited for an opening to speak but instead he found Jacobs thoughts almost being sent to him. The male frowned at the comment before staring at the wolf. "Then why did you come if you had to sacrifice that which you seem to have such little of?"
Sure it was a be encrypted but he needed to know what Jacob wanted even if it was through his thoughts after all they weren't going to get anywhere soon from standing outside arguing. "Come on Rosalie let him in at least then if you don't like what he says you can throw him out, but give him a few moments to speak before you do besides the pup looks cold" he told his sister with a smile hoping that maybe that would make her move as she had an excuse to hurt Jacob which she would be completely grateful for.
The male vampire then looked at Jacob with a small grin to show that he was joking about the pup comment, well he was slightly at least a little bit. "Well?"

"What's stopping you? Nessie' d forgive you..eventually," she let out a small laugh, "since you're just dying to kill me, go for it." If he seriously thought that he scared her, well then he was really mistaken. There was nothing she'd love more than to get rid of him once and for all. "yes, cause I'm soooo scared of a repulsive, nasty smelling mutt." Rose glared at him, with no intention of easing up and rolled her eyes in annoyance.
Rosalie growled lowly at her brother's words, eying Jacob the whole time. She wouldn't dare take her eyes off him for even a second. The stubborn female stood where she was, not moving a muscle for a moment before she snarled at the mutt in front of her and took a step back. "Only because you asked," she told Edward in a low voice. She didn't like it any more than Jacob liked being here and she certainly wasn't going to be nice about it. As if she didn't have enough to worry about now and Jacob never helped anything.

Jacob shrugged, meeting Edward’s stare. “Call it taking one for the team.” Replying to Edward’s question via thought, but not really giving an adequate answer. He realized he found the vampire’s rewording disturbing, yet it was right on the dot. He’d walked right into that one. “This was suppose to be a friendly meeting or at least somewhat.” Jake continued silently, wondering if the other male could sense the faint frustration starting to stir. That wasn’t good.
He stayed silent as Edward tried to reason it out with his sister, concentrating on keeping his aggravation at a minimum. Feeling Edward’s eyes on him again, he looked up and returned the small smile. “Yeah, cold, the whole 108 degrees of me.” He didn’t mind Edward’s teasing as much, but Rosalie, she meant everything she said. Her words this time around skimmed the shallow surface of his control, awakening that suppressed spark of anger. Maybe it was the mentioning of Nessie, or perhaps her underestimation of what he could do, what he was made for, the whole purpose of his existence. Whatever it was, she had struck fire.
Jake managed to stay where he was, but found his arms at his sides, fists clenched. “Would she? How would you know? Or do you even care?” He growled, his voice low and accusing. Taking a forced breath, he looked away, the muscles of his body standing out in restraint. His teeth clenched, he spoke again, off to the side but in a calmer tone. “I didn’t come here to fight, I don’t take pleasure in killing. Let’s just get this over with before I have to change my mind.” Closing his eyes before opening them again to turn and met the female’s glare. His look wasn’t happy, but it wasn’t as livid as hers. His physique had relaxed a little, his fists loosened lightly, unclenched.
He waited patiently and passive, simply sliding past the two as Rose finally stepped aside. The shifter sat upon the nearest surface, his body sinking as if having let go of a huge burden. His elbows rested on his knees, his hands clasped, staring at them blankly. Tired was the only feeling he felt now, waiting on the silence that had commenced after all the excitement to be broken, not trusting himself to be the one to do it.

If Rose was mad before, then she was pissed when Jacob asked if she cared about Nessie. She would love nothing more than to just attack him right then. "Don't you even tell me that I don't care, because you have absolutely no idea what shit I have to deal with all the damn time," she growled as her eyes faded from golden to black and her breathing got heavier. She shouldn't of let him past her and if Edward wasn't there she wouldn't of.
Rosalie was the kind to hold grudges and taking her anger out on Jacob was the best thing at the moment. Her eyes still fllowed him as he walk into the house. She took a few steps toward him and if her brother wasn't there she'd of attacked him right then. That was the only thing on her mind now and unfortunately she wouldn't be able to get past her brother. Stupid mind reader.
She growled again, her teeth sharp. Where was Emmett when she needed him, oh yeah, he was off somewhere with Felicity again. Of course, that's where he always was now.

He nodded to Jacobs thoughts but didn't say a word, he didn't want to anger either member anymore than they were as they were pisses as it was. Edward didn't need Jaspers power to know that the anger was getting stronger and tensed up when he saw the other male clench his fists showing that if he didn't control himself soon then he would phase into a wolf. He took a step forward but didn't need to do anything as Jacob was soon in the house and sitting down, he had wanted to talk but trust Rose to argue with him. Edward kind of felt sorry for him after all he didn't mean for anything to happen to the male and he had helped them so many times.
He turned to follow Jacob yet suddenly read Rosalie's mind which showed what she wanted to do at that point. "Rose" he said in a formal low voice showing that he had read her mind and warning her not to attack "He isn't here to hurt us can you just leave off for a few minutes please?" Edward wished that he could help her with her problem which was, as it had been for a few days now the fact that Emmett wasn't there for her anymore.
The male vampire was torn between the pair, on one hand his sister who was still upset about her husband and on the other Jacob who was being quiet about something. Edward looked from them both before deciding to walk to Rose and whispered in her ear so low that he was sure Jacob wouldn't hear. "Just watch and listen if you still feel that he is going to fight us then i wont stop you" he exclaimed. Of course he hoped it wouldn't come that far because in truth he wouldn't know what he would do.
Edward sat down beside Edward and placed his hand on the werewolf's back feeling the hot temperature against his stone cold hand, it was kind of strange. He then removed it and placed his hands on his lap, he was showing that he was ready to listen. "You can think it if you don't want to say aloud" he told Jacob and he could almost feel that his sister would get annoyed about this.

And now he'd pissed her off, not that it wasn't normal, not that she hadn't been tempted to kill him before, but this time, he felt there was something else behind her aggressiveness. Well, he was getting somewhere so far, just not very.
Her words grated his nerves, having gotten yelled at for what he had said only because it had been misunderstood by her. He hadn't meant that she didn't care about Nessie, only that she most likely wouldn't give a damn if Nessie forgave him or not if he'd actually gone through with the phasing and attacked the furious female on the front steps. He wasn't up to correcting her; it was better to let her think she was right even if she always thought so.
Her steps closer made him tense up again, reacting instinctively to threat. His hands tightened uncomfortably on themselves, causing him to eventually let go to submit his head in between them for something physical to do, his fingers kneading his skull through his hair. All this was giving him a headache. The ache of his body begging to phase and the utmost need for control because of it. Apparently his very life depended on his decision on turning wolf or not.
A cold hand jarred him from the depth of his mind, unable to stop a shiver down his spine at the unexpected, freezing touch. It surprisingly helped though, knowing it had been an attempt of comfort on Edward's part. Taking in another breath and letting it go slowly, he nodded and sat up. He leaned his head back, looking at the ceiling but able to catch glimpses of a patiently waiting Edward and of the fuming Rosalie. A hand rose to rub his eyes, pinching the bridge of his nose before running absently through his hair and returning to his lap. The things he got himself in to.
"I'll do it half and half, if she cares enough to stay and listen." This was going to be interesting.
"No, I don't know, Rose, which is why I'm here. I..." Jake hesitated for a second. 'Can't believe I'm saying this.' "..care, as much as you do, we just have different ways of showing it, obviously." He paused again, letting the words sink in, they were a bit strange for him to believe at first as well. "I came to check up on everyone." He added, simply stating his purpose, ready for it to be shot down by one and considered by the other.

Rosalie looked at her brother and back at Jacob. Was he really worth it? As much as she hated Jacob Black, she thought wasting her time with him was pointless now. So she gave up for now. "Fine," she crossed her arms and glared at him. She stood by her brother, refusing to sit down and preventing to be any closer to the mutt than she already was.
She was a bit irritated still, but she had it under control. She looked at Jacob as he talked to her, "Rosalie," she corrected him in a low, serious voice. If anything, he was not given the right to call her Rose. She hated when anyone other than her family called her Rose. She sneered when he claimed to care as much as she did and she rolled her eyes. Oh, if he only knew.
Rose would've said something, but she kept it to herself. She bit her lip and resisted the urge to snap at him. That was hard, but she was used to having to deal with hard situations. Seemed like that's all her life was now, nothing was easy anymore, not even the slightest bit.

Edward nodded as Jacob thoughts filled his mind yet waited patiently while the male gathered up the words that he wanted or needed to say. He raised his eyebrows as the shifter spoke about something that he often didn't seem to speak about, his feelings for the vampires and they didn't seem to be hatred. He was about to speak when he looked at Rosalie to see what her reaction was first however he couldn't tell by her facial expression and didn't want to read her mind in case he caught more methods of her throwing Jacob about.
He returned his stare to the wolf where he smiled slightly "You came to see how we were?" he asked with a frown "Why here though you must of know that Rose would be here and you know how much she loves you" Edward let out a small laugh after he asked the question although he did wonder why Jacob would turn up here after all wouldn't it be better if he had turned up at Bella's and his own house where Renesmee lived who would be extremely happy to see him.
Edward felt that so far it had been good as Rose and Jacob hadn't hit each other yet although he wasn't going to hold his breath, not that he could anyway being a vampire and all.

Jacob merely raised a slight eyebrow as Rose, ah, Rosalie submitted and calmed down, for the most part. Least I'll be leaving in one piece, he thought, if I don't manage to piss her off again. He glanced back and forth between the two, both frowning. Then again..wishful thinking never got me very far. He shook his head, so much for an honest approach.
Sighing, he gestured carelessly in the air at the Edward's question, as if waving it away. Of course he had thought of just visiting the nicer half of the family, but... "Since I practically see Nessie everyday, because they aren't the ones with problems." Chancing a look in Rosalie's direction. "Am I wrong, or should I not have even bothered and just leave? He didn't seem to be getting anywhere at all.
